Shulman & Partners LLP is a high-performing, human-centered family law firm with offices in Toronto and Ottawa, driven by a singular vision: Do Good, Make an Impact. We are a firm with a result-oriented team and a culture based on pro-activity, professional integrity, and the utmost commitment to our clients. We believe good ideas come from challenging each other's thinking. Feedback is part of how we improve, and upholding high standards is how we grow.
We are looking for a sharp, agile, hands-on Finance Manager to run our finance function day to day. You will own the details, bring solutions, solve problems, and make sure we have reliable financial information to move fast.
We will ask questions, challenge ideas, and expect thoughtful recommendations, but we do not expect to know finance better than you do. Your role is to explain your reasoning in plain language and exercise good judgment.
We care about you being tightly aligned with how we operate:
Finance Operations: Own the end-to-end financial processes and monthly cycles, including billing, payments, reconciliations, expense approvals, and month-end close.
Trust Accounting: Maintain trust accounting in accordance with Law Society of Ontario requirements and ensure ongoing compliance.
Client Financial Experience: Own the firm's financial processes that affect the client experience, from retainers through billing and collections, with professionalism, tact, and consistency.
Reporting: Produce accurate, timely reporting that leadership relies on to understand the health of the business and make informed decisions.
Receivables: Own accounts receivable and collections. Identify issues early, resolve problems, and keep cash flow healthy.
Continuous Improvement: Find better ways to operate the finance function.
Automation and Systems: Use technology, tooling, and AI to automate what you can.
