Job summary

Altis in Ottawa, Canada, seeks a Finance Manager, External Reporting to lead the quarterly and annual external reporting cycle and ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP.

You will mentor two direct reports, collaborate with tax, treasury, and audit teams, and drive process improvements while upholding governance controls.

Qualifications

• CPA designation is required.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting and regulatory reporting.
• Experience in a public company environment and/or Big Four preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP and regulatory disclosures.
• Experience mentoring a small team in a fast-paced finance environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the quarterly and annual external reporting cycle, including consolidated financial statements and disclosures.
• Ensure reporting is accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather and align financial information for external reporting.
• Research complex accounting matters and support implementation of new standards.
• Oversee relationships with external auditors and coordinate audit activities.
• Mentor and develop two direct reports, guiding priorities and growth.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, systems, and internal controls.

Your Responsibilities

• You'll ensure all financial reporting is accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• You'll partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather, validate, and align financial information for external reporting.
• You'll research complex accounting matters, prepare technical accounting memos, and support the implementation of new accounting standards.
• You'll oversee relationships with external auditors, coordinate audit activities, and maintain strong reporting controls.
• You'll mentor and develop two direct reports, providing technical guidance, setting priorities, and supporting their professional growth.
• You'll identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, systems, and internal controls to drive greater efficiency and accuracy.

Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting, technical accounting, and regulatory reporting.
• CPA designation is required.
• Experience within a public company environment and/or Big Four public accounting is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP, regulatory disclosure requirements, and complex consolidations.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring a small team in a fast-paced finance environment.
• Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting, and disclosure management tools.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting concepts for senior stakeholders.
