Kelowna Christian Center church (KCC) and Heritage Christian Online School (HCOS) are the ministries of Kelowna Christian Center Society (KCCS). KCCS was established in 1982 with a vision for the community and global influence. The Position
KCCS has an opening for a Finance Manager. This is a full-time, onsite position working 32-40 hours per week. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the Kelowna Christian Center Society (KCCS) Director of Finance in the recording and reconciling of the financial details of the Society.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee weekly offering counts, verify Society contributions (including weekly tithes, tax receipt-able tuition, fundraising, special offerings and sponsorships) in the church management software
- Enter and post all contribution batches into the financial software
- Reconcile financial software to church management software monthly
- Maintain and update donor information in church management software
- Answer donor inquiries including requests for duplicate tax receipts
- Analyze and reconcile online revenue sources
- Process and post Society deposits
- Document financial processes and procedures
- Prepare and issue monthly giving reports
- Reconcile and post Society corporate credit cards
- Supervise and delegate responsibilities to the Finance Assistant
- Prepare and process monthly Pre-Authorized Debit transactions
- Vet and post Accounts Payable batches
- Process utility payments and weekly vendor EFT and cheque payment batches
- Process currency exchanges, wire transfers/money orders when needed
- Vet semi-monthly Payroll, assist with monthly payroll remittances and year-end T-slips
- Ensure all month end entries are recorded and reconciled in financial software
- Assist with monthly bank reconciliations including daily chequing account reconciliation as needed
- Follow up with bank on transaction discrepancies, stale-dated cheques, wire payments etc when required
- Assist with issuing monthly internal financial statements
- Assist departments with financial inquiries (including questions with coding, G/L details)
- Prepare quarterly and annual Worksafe and GST remittances
- Provide assistance with year-end audits (including analysis, documentation and adjustments)
- Assist with the reconciliation and issuance of Society Charitable Tax Receipts
- Attend meetings where necessary
- Any other related duties as they may arise
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrates a commitment to, and a lifestyle reflective of, the KCCS Foundational Beliefs
- Educational background in Accounting or Business, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred
- 3 -5 years practical accounting experience
- Advanced understanding of accounting policies and audit techniques
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and flexibility to manage multiple tasks to ensure scheduled deadlines are met
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and working knowledge of accounting software
