About the Opportunity

Our client is the Canadian arm of a global consumer packaged goods manufacturer.

The business runs on a disciplined operating model built around steady organic revenue growth, gross margin expansion and tight overhead control, and it has held that pattern for years across household, personal care and specialty categories.

This is a backfill on the Commercial Finance team, reporting to the Finance Director, Commercial Finance. The role is the financial counterweight to the Canadian sales organization: it owns the trade estimate process, the customer profitability picture, and the analysis that shapes how trade dollars get deployed across retail accounts and the growing eCommerce channel.

You will lead monthly and quarterly business reviews on profitability, explain the variances that matter, and sit at the table when trade strategy is being set rather than reporting on it afterward. Leading a team is part of the mandate, not an eventual add-on, and the eCommerce side of the portfolio is where the newest thinking is needed.

For a commercial finance manager who wants a customer P&L, a team, and a direct line to the sales leaders making the decisions, this is a well-defined seat inside a stable, profitable business.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with sales and commercial leadership as the finance voice on customer strategy, pricing and trade investment decisions
• Own the trade estimate process end to end, including accruals, true-ups and the assumptions behind them
• Build the customer profitability view across retail accounts and surface where margin is being made and lost
• Deliver eCommerce channel insight and profitability analysis as that part of the business scales
• Lead monthly and quarterly business performance reviews focused on profitability metrics, and explain variances against plan
• Support trade strategy development with scenario analysis and post-promotion evaluation
• Oversee the Trade Deduction team, including deduction resolution and process discipline
• Coach and develop the Sales Finance team, setting priorities and building capability
• Drive process improvement across the sales finance cycle, reducing manual effort and cycle time
• Maintain effective controls and keep the function audit-ready

What You Bring

• 7+ years of progressive finance experience, with a background in Sales Finance, Commercial Finance or Revenue Management Finance
• CPG experience
• People leadership experience, with direct reports you have managed and developed
• Hands-on ownership of trade spend, trade accruals or customer profitability
• Advanced analytical and forecasting skills, paired with solid accounting knowledge
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field
• Ability to hold your ground with commercial stakeholders and manage competing priorities

Nice to Have

• CPA designation and/or MBA
• Oracle and/or SAP experience
• eCommerce or Amazon channel finance exposure
• Trade promotion management (TPM) system experience
