Job description

Finance Executive (Canada) Reporting to: Group Financial Controller Location: Toronto, Canada

WHO IS ELECT CAPITAL

Elect Capital backs ambitious UK, Canadian and US businesses with capital that cuts through the noise. Built for speed, edge and action, we deliver funding where others stall. We’re not here to reinvent financing – we’re here to do it better. We move at the pace of our clients and connect them to capital that works.

Elect offers 1 – 9 month business financing with daily or weekly repayments and fast, transparent decisions. 90% of completed applications receive an offer within 4 hours – with clear pricing, no unnecessary hurdles, and a team that knows how to get deals done. Whether a client applies directly or via a broker, we aim to make the funding journey sharp, clean and simple.

OUR MISSION

We are on a mission to back ambition. Disrupting the lines of traditional finance and providing access to ambitious businesses, with capital that moves as fast as they do.

OUR VALUES: C.O.R.E

Challenge – Ask the hard questions. Improve what you touch.

Opportunity – Spot it. Shape it. Run with it.

Resilience – Stay steady. Adapt fast. Keep momentum.

Edge – Think sharp. Move sharp. Stand out.

We hire people who act fast, think commercially, and bring clarity to everything they do.

THE PERFECT FIT

We’re not a coasting kind of company. Elect is fast, challenging and focused – and we love it that way. Things move quickly here, and the bar is high. If you thrive in that kind of environment, you'll do well.

To thrive at Elect, you'll need:

  • A sharp mind and a strong work ethic
  • The ability to stay calm, focused and accurate under pressure
  • A natural instinct to spot issues, fix them fast, and always look for a better way
  • Resilience and a team-first mentality – we challenge each other daily, but we back each other even harder
  • A bias for clarity, action and ownership
  • A desire to go beyond the job description and raise the bar
THE ROLE

Elect is expanding its presence in Canada and this role will be the first dedicated finance hire in the region. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Finance Executive will take ownership of the day-to-day finance processes supporting Elect Capital’s Canadian business, working closely with the wider group finance team. This is a hands‑on role focused on ensuring financial operations run smoothly across the region. You will be responsible for executing and maintaining key finance processes including accounts payable, funding transactions, payroll coordination and financial record keeping, ensuring they operate accurately and in line with group standards. As the business grows, you will play an important role in embedding strong financial processes locally while remaining closely connected to the group finance function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own the day‑to‑day finance processes supporting Elect Capital’s Canadian operations, ensuring accuracy and consistency with group standards.
  • Process accounts payable, including invoice entry, payment preparation and vendor reconciliations.
  • Execute and reconcile funding transactions, ensuring loan fundings and repayments are recorded accurately.
  • Coordinate payroll processing for the Canadian team, working with external providers and the group finance team.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations and supporting documentation across finance systems.
  • Support month‑end close activities, including reconciliations and preparation of supporting schedules for group reporting.
  • Assist with preparation of documentation required for year‑end accounts, audits and tax filings.
  • Work closely with the group finance team to ensure strong financial controls and consistent processes across the business.
  • Act as the local finance contact for operational queries, helping ensure financial information flows clearly across teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and operational efficiency as the Canadian business scales.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • 3–5 years of experience in finance, accounting or financial operations.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, lending or a fast‑growing company is beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of core accounting processes, including reconciliations, accounts payable and month‑end support.
  • Comfortable working with financial systems, spreadsheets and transactional data.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating closely with an international finance team.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership of processes and improve how things are done.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders across the business.
WHAT WE OFFER
  • A foundational finance role in Elect Capital’s Canadian expansion.
  • Direct exposure to the group finance team and senior leadership.
  • The opportunity to own and develop finance processes in a fast‑growing fintech.
  • A team‑first culture built on pace, clarity and commercial thinking.
  • Competitive salary and long‑term career growth opportunities.
