Job summary

The District Municipality of Muskoka is seeking a Director, Finance to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Finance Department, ensuring reliable financial operations and reporting.

Based in Bracebridge, this permanent full-time role requires CPA and 5–7 years of municipal finance leadership, with oversight of payroll, accounts payable/receivable, audit coordination, and financial systems.

Qualifications

• University degree in commerce or business administration with a finance concentration and CPA or equivalent.
• Five to seven years of progressively responsible, directly related experience including management experience.
• Thorough knowledge of financial administration, purchasing, accounting, auditing, internal-control, payroll, and benefits; applicable legislation and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of employee lifecycle for Finance staff and workforce planning.
• Set departmental priorities and provide guidance to managers and staff.
• Direct day-to-day financial operations including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, banking, and financial reporting.
• Lead annual audit of the District's consolidated financial statements and related entities.
• Prepare and submit financial reports to stakeholders and ensure compliance with laws and policies.
