Job summary

Horizon Contracting Group is seeking an experienced Controller to lead month-end close, financial reporting, and analysis for a growing, multi-entity organization in Canada. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will own the close process and drive improvements across entities.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA designation and a degree in accounting or finance, with 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, strong GAAP/ASPE knowledge, and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• CPA designation and CPA experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• GAAP & ASPE standards knowledge essential
• Advanced Excel with Pivot Tables and modelling proficiency
• Experience preparing financial statements and management reporting
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Spectrum is a plus)

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and quarter-end close across multiple entities
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow forecasting
• Maintain and improve close schedules, workflows, and accounting processes
• Assist with internal controls, policy improvements, and process documentation
• Lead finance automation initiatives and identify efficiency improvements
