Job description

Air is a Creative Ops System for creative teams. Our product automates the mindless tasks that creatives and marketers do every day to manage content and unlocks creativity through image recognition, automated versioning, and approval workflows. We launched in March 2021 and have raised +$70m from world-class venture capital groups including Avenir, Tiger Global, Headline Ventures, Lerer Hippeau, WndrCo, and Slack Ventures.

This role requires in-office attendance at least 3 days/week in our Toronto office.

We are growing our Strategic Finance team to help the business push for scale. This person will report to the VP of Finance & BizOps and partner directly with our leadership team. You will partner closely with GTM and Product teams to drive cross-functional, strategic initiatives, and you will go deep and develop framework and analyses to help us scale.

Core Responsibilities
Drive the Operating Model
  • Own and evolve our financial, operating, and headcount models as we scale.
  • Lead bi-annual planning and budgeting, translating strategy into forecasts and investment trade-off decisions.
  • Run rigorous analysis to identify growth levers, efficiency wins, and risks before they surface.
Create executive-level clarity :
  • Build Board-ready materials, investor updates, and performance narratives that influence decisions.
  • Track company financial trajectory and lead monthly strategic finance reviews with leadership; distill complex signals into crisp, actionable insights and assertions.
  • Oversee our outsourced accounting team to ensure timely, accurate financials.
Lead key strategic projects
  • Partner with GTM and Product to evaluate strategic bets, model outcomes, and measure impact.
  • Leverage latest AI and automation tools to modernize our finance workflows and level up operational velocity.
  • Support vendor, partnership, and customer negotiations with data‑driven analysis.
This is for you if you are:
  • A financial modelling expert who is highly motivated by solving business problems.
  • Deeply curious about how our business works and willing to go deep with functional teams to help them succeed.
  • Obsessed with how AI and automation will evolve the finance & operational functions.
  • Excited to wear many hats, tackle what’s needed, and find scrappy solutions that drive results.
  • Self‑motivated, communicative, and bring a can‑do attitude to your work, even if it’s gnarly.
  • A doer; someone who takes pride in owning your work from start to finish and holding yourself to a high bar.
  • Ambitious, can adapt quickly and move with urgency when challenges arise.
  • An open communicator and genuinely care about playing for the team.
  • 4-8+ years of relevant experience in Strategic Finance, BizOps, FP&A, Investment Banking, or the buyside.
  • Experience at high growth startup/scale‑ups is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL and BI tools is a plus.
  • Proficiency (or working knowledge) of the latest AI‑native finance tech stack.
