Job summary

GreenShield Canada is seeking a Finance student to join the GS Health team in Windsor, Ontario. The role focuses on learning core financial reporting, supporting day-to-day accounting tasks, and gaining a broad understanding of the organization.

Reporting to the controller, you will assist with month-end processes, data analyses, and payment cycles while developing professional skills in a not-for-profit health benefits environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a recognized Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business (finance or accounting specialization preferred), math or technical field.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to process and manipulate large amounts of data.
• Excellent planning, organizing, and time management skills with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with members of our accounting team to ensure day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions are maintained.
• Prepare month end working papers including various account reconciliations.
• Support the compilation of monthly Admin Expense management reporting deliverables and key drivers of under/over-performance.
• File and maintain accounting records and reports.
• Perform ad hoc off-cycle financial analysis on specific areas of the business.
• Assist with full cycle of payments: customer deposits, customer claims, vendor payments, internal and external commissions.
• Support other projects related to GS’ broader finance transformation initiative.
• Work collaboratively with the broader Finance / Accounting Team.
