Job summary

Green Shield Canada (GSC) is seeking a Tax Accounting Co-op Student to join the Tax Team and assist with monthly close, reconciliation, and tax analyses in a corporate setting. This role offers hands-on learning in tax concepts and broad organizational exposure.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a business degree with a finance or accounting focus, enrolled in a co-op program, and possess strong analytical and MS Office skills. English proficiency is required.

THEROLE IN A NUTSHELL

Base Salary: $22.50/hour

The Tax AccountingCo-op Student will join the Tax Team by providing support and assistance in the monthly accounting close process as well as analysis and reconciliation of key accounts. This position provides excellent opportunities in learning and implementing tax and accounting concepts in a corporate environment and getting a broad understanding of the overall organization.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with members of our accounting and tax teams to ensure day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions are maintained
• Prepare month end working papers including various account reconciliations
• File and maintain accounting records, reports, and tax returns
• Perform ad hoc off-cycle tax analysis on specific areas of the business
• Support other projects related to GSC’s broader finance transformation initiative
• Work collaboratively with the broader Finance / Accounting Team

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Working towards a recognized Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in business (finance or accounting specialization preferred)
• Enrolled in the Co-op program at your post-secondary institution
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
• Tax experience anasset
• Usage of Taxprep and/or Workday an asset
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to process and manipulate large amounts of data
• Excellent planning, organizing, and time management skills with strong attention to detail
