Job summary

Leavitt Machinery in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a mechanically skilled Field Technician (Heavy Equipment) to join our Service team. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of material handling equipment, servicing customer sites and communicating with the Service Dispatcher.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of heavy equipment experience, a valid Journeyperson ticket or Red Seal, and a strong focus on safety, quality workmanship, and customer service.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of heavy equipment experience in a related industry.
• Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or Red Seal Certification required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery.
• Maintaining communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing jobs and completing tasks in a timely manner.
• Discussing service details with customers and communicating repair requirements clearly.
• Coordinating with Parts to order and prepare needed parts before visits to job sites.
• Maintaining documentation such as work orders and warranty paperwork.
• Reporting safety incidents and adhering to safety policies.

The Opportunity

Leavitt Machinery is looking for a mechanically skilled Field Technician (Heavy Equipment) to join our Service team in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Technician will be assigned to a variety of machinery repair tasks required by our loyal customers.

As a Field Technician your key responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
• Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
• Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
• Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
• Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
• Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

• At least 3 years of heavy equipment experience in a related industry
• Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or a Relevant Red Seal Trade Certification is required
• Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience is highly preferred
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
• High school diploma
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required

The approximate base pay range for this role is: $51.32 to $58.16 per hour, depending on experience.

This is an onsite role based in Calgary, Alberta.
