Job summary

ALPA Equipment seeks a Field Service Technician specialized in forestry equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and service a variety of forestry gear in the field, traveling across the territory to keep customers productive.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson status or apprenticing in heavy equipment preferred.
• Experience diagnosing mechanical/hydraulic/electrical systems is desirable.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills with attention to safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, maintenance, inspections, and servicing at customer locations.

Equipment You'll Work With

No two days are the same.

Depending on customer needs, you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of forestry equipment, including:

• Rotobec material handlers and attachments
• Landrich forestry equipment
• A variety of other forestry equipment serviced for our customers

The variety of equipment means you'll continue developing your skills while gaining experience across multiple product lines, manufacturers, and technologies.

Reporting to the Service Manager, you'll travel throughout the territory providing professional service and technical expertise to our forestry customers.

Whether you're diagnosing equipment in the field, performing preventative maintenance, or completing a major repair, your work helps keep our customers productive and their equipment operating at their best.

A Typical Day

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic issues on forestry equipment.
• Perform repairs, maintenance, inspections, and equipment servicing at customer locations.
• Use manufacturer diagnostic software, electronic testing equipment, and specialized tools to identify and resolve issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment performance and reliability.
• Inspect equipment and recommend repairs or maintenance that help reduce customer downtime.
• Complete service documentation accurately and professionally.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment concerns and repair recommendations.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
• Represent ALPA Equipment with professionalism while delivering exceptional customer service.

You’ll Be Successful in This Role If You Have:

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using computers and electronic diagnostic equipment.
• The ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
• A commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Flexibility to work overtime when required to support our customers.
• A valid driver's licence.
• Bilingualism (English/French) may be considered an asset depending on the branch, territory, and customer base.
