Job summary

Qualifications

  • Over 2 years of experience in highway materials, sampling, testing, and inspection.
  • CCIL or ACI certification is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Unified Soil Classification System.

Your Contribution

As a Field Technician, you will collaborate with the Materials team.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Applying and promoting health and safety rules;
  • Inspecting the quality of construction and materials (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, sealants, membranes);
  • Monitoring placement and workmanship;
  • Reporting non-conformance concerns;
  • Conducting field and laboratory tests on materials;
  • Preparing and collecting samples for testing;
  • Performing compaction testing with Nuclear Densometer;
  • Testing plastic concrete on-site and casting samples for lab testing;
  • Assisting with asphalt and concrete coring for thickness and composition analysis;
  • Ensuring data accuracy;
  • Writing inspection and test reports;
  • Maintaining testing equipment and calibration.

Your Profile

  • Technical Diploma in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering;
  • Over 2 years of experience in highway materials, sampling, testing, and inspection;
  • CCIL or ACI certification (asset);
  • Knowledge of OPSS specifications for concrete, asphalt, and soil compaction;
  • Familiarity with the Unified Soil Classification System;
  • Ability to handle samples up to 25kg;
  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License and personal vehicle;
  • Interest in occupational health and safety.
