Job summary

INVIRO is seeking a Field Services Inspector to join our Calgary team. You will travel across Canada to visually inspect mechanical, HVAC, and electrical building systems in industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors, performing site verifications and meetings.

You will read specifications, interpret drawings, apply codes, and provide recommendations. The role requires a post-secondary degree, 10 years' experience, a valid driver's license, and ability to travel.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in the commercial/industrial sector.
• Knowledge of Alberta Building Code and National Building Code.

Responsibilities

• Travel throughout Canada, visually inspect mechanical (HVAC & plumbing)/electrical building systems in the industrial, commercial, and institutional buildings industry.
• Conduct and attend site visits including site verifications, inspections, and meetings.
• Analyze, diagnose, commission, and provide recommendations for mechanical/electrical equipment as needed.
• Read and interpret product specifications and drawings; review building specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Travel throughout Canada, to visually inspect mechanical (HVAC & plumbing)/ electrical building systems in the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional buildings industry.
• Conduct and attend site visits including but not limited to site verifications, inspections, and meetings.
• Analyze, diagnose, commission, and provide recommendations for mechanical/ electrical equipment as needed.
• Read and interpret product specifications and experience in working with building specifications, drawings and designs.
• Apply and adhere to national and provincial building codes across Canada.
• Provides technical support as requested.
• Utilize technology tools such as tablets, markup software to review, annotate, and update electrical drawings and site documentation.
• The ability to complete paperwork accurately in a timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in the commercial/industrial sector.
• The ability to be flexible with regards to work location and work schedule is a must, including the ability to travel away from home.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and must have a vehicle.
• Refrigeration/HVAC Journeyman certification (313A/ 309A) is an asset.
• Gas Fitter 1 license is an asset.
• Knowledge of the Alberta Building Code, National Building Code, and other applicable legislation/construction standards.
• Ability to read, review and interpret plans, drawings, specifications, codes and by-laws.
• Experience in setup and maintenance would be considered an asset.
• Knowledge of computer systems and software such as Office Suite.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with others.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact.
• Ability to plan, organize and manage work with minimal supervision and complete assigned duties accurately and within timelines.
• Physically capable of performing required duties and ability to work in all weather conditions.
