About the opportunity

The Job

Our client is an established compressed-air equipment company, and Calgary is their busiest branch. They're replacing one of their top field techs and want someone who likes the calls other people find hard.

A typical week mixes scheduled service with whatever comes up. Planned work is booked about two weeks out, and breakdown calls come in every other day or so. One day you're doing routine maintenance, the next you're tracking down why a customer's compressor won't run. Most work is in and around Calgary. About every month or two, you'll head out for a start-up or commissioning job somewhere in Alberta or Saskatchewan.

What's In It For You
The big stuff
  • $40–$45/hour, with overtime available when you want it
  • Take-home service truck, with new F-350-class trucks being added to the Calgary fleet
  • **Home most nights. **Regional travel is about once every month or two
  • Light on-call: about one week every two months, scheduled months ahead, with a premium paid for the whole week even if your phone never rings
Also included
  • Health spending account, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and AD&D
  • RRSP matching after probation, worth just under $2,000 a year
  • Bonuses of up to $500 when your leads turn into equipment sales
  • Annual boot allowance and a work phone for on-call
  • A team of eight where people stick around and help each other out
What You’ll Do
  • Service, troubleshoot, rebuild and maintain compressors and compressed-air equipment at customer sites
  • Answer breakdown calls and get customers back up and running
  • Work through both mechanical and electrical problems to find the real cause, not just the symptom
  • Install air equipment and piping, and start up new compressors
  • Help with commissioning and installs on equipment shipped around the region
  • Take your turn on the on-call rotation
  • Flag equipment upgrade opportunities for customers, and get paid when they turn into sales
  • Pitch in wherever the team needs you
What You Bring
You’ll fit well if you have:
  • Hands-on field or industrial service experience as a compressor tech, millwright, industrial mechanic, industrial electrician or HVAC/refrigeration tech
  • A good mix of mechanical and electrical skills
  • The confidence to work on your own and make good calls when the answer isn't obvious
  • A team-first attitude, with no \"not my job\" vibe
  • A valid driver's licence
  • Rotary screw or reciprocating compressor experience
  • Reading electrical schematics and troubleshooting controls or drives
  • A gas fitter ticket
Senior techs are the ideal fit, but strong mid-level techs who are ready to step up are encouraged to apply.
Why this could be your next move

You're the tech people call when nobody else can figure it out. Here, that skill is the job, and it's rewarded. You'll get variety, a newer truck, solid pay and benefits, and a team that's built to keep people for years, without giving up your evenings at home.

If you want steady local work with a company worth staying at, this is a conversation worth having.
