Responsibilities:
- Provide installation, maintenance, troubleshooting/repair, and customer training support for all LB Foster friction management equipment and products.
- Liaise with external customers and internal departments for product development and relationship-building initiatives.
- Work outdoors on railway trucks under various weather conditions.
- Manage personal travel expenses, tools, and company-issued credit cards where applicable.
- Document and report all work-related activities, including miles traveled, expenses, and daily reports.
- Communicate effectively with railway personnel to plan and schedule daily activities.
- Travel regularly out of town and be flexible with work shifts.
Experience & Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in hydraulics, mechanics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and schematic reading.
- Certification in E-Railsafe and Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) for applicable client railways, plus any additional customer-required training.
- CDL or Driver’s License with Transport Canada Physical Card for driving trucks of 26,000 LBS GVW or larger is preferred but not mandatory.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with good time management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Reliability, professionalism, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Technical writing skills for work reports.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all applicable safety and operating rules.
- Willingness to wear PPE (Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection).
- Ability to act as Watchman/Lookout, monitoring train approaches and communicating warnings.
- Physical ability to stand, sit, walk, handle objects, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
- Operate impact tools, power tools, and manual earth-moving equipment.
- Extensive travel throughout North America and possibly overseas.
- Flexibility for overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physical tasks on uneven surfaces.
- Work near moving mechanical parts and trains, with exposure to electrical hazards, heights, weather conditions, fumes, and noise.
