Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Canada is seeking a Field Service Representative to perform on-site service on power transformers and HV equipment, ensuring safety and project requirements are met. You will troubleshoot, install, test, and commission equipment while building strong customer relationships.

You will work with sales, engineering, and operations, mentor junior staff, and prepare technical reports after site work.

Qualifications

• Trade education, college diploma, or university degree in a technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of electrical field service experience or relevant substation/transformer experience.
• Strong knowledge of power transformers and power system equipment; HV knowledge is an asset.
• Valid Canadian driver’s license and acceptable driving record; valid passport for international travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, repair, installation, testing, commissioning, and start-up of power equipment.
• Execute transformer installation and maintenance activities, including bushing replacement and leak repairs.
• Conduct electrical testing of transformers (power factor, ratio, resistance, insulation resistance, SFRA).
• Operate and maintain transformer oil processing rigs.
• Prepare technical reports and customer documentation after site work.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and engineering teams to provide field service expertise.
• Mentor other field service employees and support technical training initiatives.
• Ensure all site work meets safety requirements and compliance standards.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

Salary Range: $75,000– $100,000
