Job description

Job Title: Field Service Engineer - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA

Job Summary:

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the installation, start-up, programming, technical support, troubleshooting, repair, refurbishment, and emergency service of Kawasaki robots. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensuring equipment is installed, programmed, and commissioned safely, reliably, and within schedule and budget.
  2. Traveling to customer sites for emergency repairs or support.
  3. Having working knowledge of PLC communications and ancillary equipment.
  4. Troubleshooting hardware and process issues.
  5. Knowledge of robotic work cells and control systems.
  6. Performing troubleshooting and repairs on Kawasaki robots, including mechanical, electrical, and software aspects.
  7. Leading teams of technicians at customer facilities.
  8. Providing informal training to engineers, trades, and operators.
  9. Performing preventative maintenance on customer robots.
  10. Communicating effectively with engineering teams and customers, especially in high-pressure situations.
  11. Generating detailed work documentation and supporting quote and invoice processes.
  12. Participating in 24/7 phone support rotation for troubleshooting assistance.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience (minimum 10 years).
  2. Proven mechanical aptitude and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  3. Experience with controls, safety circuits, and robot troubleshooting.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  6. Strong safety adherence, organizational skills, and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  7. Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  8. Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Robot programming and automation integration experience.
  2. Experience with paint or sealer robots and vision systems.
