Job description

Field Service Engineer - this position is based in Cambridge, Ontario CANADA

Job Summary

Field service includes the installation, start-up, programming, technical support, troubleshooting, repair, refurbishment, and emergency service of Kawasaki robots. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ensure equipment is installed, programmed, and commissioned safely, reliably, and within time and budget constraints.
  • Travel to customer location to complete emergency repairs or provide support.
  • Have working knowledge of PLC communications and other ancillary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and process issues.
  • Knowledge of robotic work cells and their control systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting and mechanical repairs on Kawasaki robots.
  • Perform troubleshooting and electrical repairs on Kawasaki robots.
  • Perform robot programming changes such as logic, software, and path alterations.
  • Ability to lead teams of technicians at customer facilities.
  • Perform informal training of engineers, skilled trades and operators in electrical and mechanical applications, operations, and maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on customer robots.
  • Effectively communicate with design engineering, application engineering, training, administration, and customers, in high-pressure situations.
  • Generate detailed and accurate work order closing documentation upon completion of work assigned in a timely manner.
  • Provide details needed to generate quotes for paid services.
  • Complete and provide accurate, detailed expenses for invoicing.
  • Participate in 24/7 phone support rotation, providing troubleshooting support to address customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Manufacturing, or 10 years’ experience.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Controls troubleshooting experience.
  • Safety circuit troubleshooting experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Strong adherence to safety policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to travel frequently
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for up to two-week increments.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.

Preferred Skills

  • Robot programming experience.
  • Automation integration experience.
  • Paint or sealer robotic experience.
  • Vision experience.
