Job summary

Cameco is seeking a safety-focused professional to join the Cigar Lake operation in Saskatchewan. This field-based role spans surface and underground work, focusing on supporting health and safety initiatives and promoting safe work practices through training, coaching, and mentoring.

You'll review and update safety documentation, participate in emergency response planning, and contribute to regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. Rotational shifts and aircraft commutes are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of post-secondary education in occupational health & safety or related field.
• 6 months to 2 years of relevant work experience in underground mining.
• Equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Willingness to work on rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a strong field presence and provide hands-on safety support.
• Support and enhance safety programs through review, development, and continuous improvement of safety documentation, procedures, and processes.
• Coach, educate, and mentor employees to foster a positive safety culture.
• Active member of the emergency response program and site preparedness.
• Participate in confined space testing (once fully qualified).
• Attend safety toolbox meetings and present safety-related topics.
