Job description

Location: Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada

Our client, an energy company, is seeking 4 Field Permit Issuers for a contract role until September 2025 in Kitimat, BC. The schedule is 2 weeks on/1 week off, with camp accommodation provided. The shift involves 12-hour day/night shifts, with some extended hours during peak startup activities.

Responsibilities:

1. Issue work permits in designated process areas for punchlist closeout work.
2. Conduct joint jobsite visits with contractors.
3. Ensure contractors adhere to accountability board protocols in company primacy areas.
4. Verify that permit provisions, controls, and RA/JHA are met.
5. Ensure prestart checklists are completed.
6. Identify work area hazards and ensure controls are indicated on permits and RA/JHA, and that contractors are aware.
7. Identify SIMOPs in the work area and ensure proper mitigations are taken.
8. Perform area check-ins for all permits issued and ensure work complies with permit and RA/JHA requirements.
9. Ensure permits are closed out at the end of each work shift.

Skills & Requirements:

1. Legally entitled to work in Canada if not a current employee.
2. 10+ years of process operations and/or PTW/HSSE experience in LNG, gas plants, refineries, or petrochemical industries.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safe work practices.
5. Strong collaboration skills to build positive relationships with diverse team members.
6. Knowledge of permit to work systems, safe work procedures, and regulations; experience with Permit Vision e-permit software is an asset.

Dimensions:

1. Overtime and after-hours work may be required.
2. Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
3. Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including climbing ladders and stairs, working at heights, and in confined spaces.
4. Ability to lift and carry up to 23 kg using safe lifting techniques.
5. Willing to work collaboratively in a diverse and inclusive team environment.
