Job summary

NES Fircroft seeks a Field Production Operator (Contract) within Alberta, living within one hour of Cynthia. You will manage daily well, battery, and facility operations, perform production accounting, and oversee on-site maintenance during 10-hour days on an 8 on/6 off schedule.

You will execute well tests, monitor SCADA/EFM data, and coordinate field activities. AER and OHS compliance are essential, with H2S experience and a reliable vehicle required.

Qualifications

• Direct field operating experience in the Cynthia, Alberta area.
• Experience operating oil, gas and NGL facilities.
• H2S Alive certification required and valid.
• Technical proficiency with pump jacks, gas sweetening units, and related field equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily visual inspections of well pads and monitor wellhead parameters.
• Optimize gas and condensate wells; manage pump jacks and artificial lift systems.
• Coordinate fluid hauling and manage field chemical injection rates.
• Operate central battery equipment, gas sweetening units, compressors and storage tanks.
• Run well tests, perform tank dips and custody transfer verification per directives.
• Validate SCADA inputs and EFM data; ensure data accuracy.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and troubleshoot process upsets.
• Issue safe work permits and supervise on-site contractors.

Location: Must reside within 1 hour of Cynthia, Alberta

Schedule: 8 days on, 6 days off (10-hour days)

Overview Seeking an experienced Independent contractor for a Field Production Operator role. The contractor will manage daily well, battery, and facility operations, production accounting, and on-site maintenance.

Core Responsibilities

• Execute daily visual inspections of well pads and monitor wellhead parameters.
• Optimize flowing gas and condensate wells to prevent liquid loading and manage pump jacks and other artificial lift systems.
• Coordinate fluid hauling (oil, NGL, produced water) and manage field chemical injection rates.
• Operate central battery process equipment, gas sweetening units, compressors, and storage tank farms.
• Execute well tests, conduct physical tank dips, and prove custody transfer meters in compliance with AER Directive 017.
• Validate SCADA inputs and Electronic Flow Measurement (EFM) data.
• Perform preventative maintenance on surface equipment and troubleshoot process upsets.
• Issue safe work permits and supervise third-party contractors on site.
• Maintain strict compliance with Alberta OHS regulations, AER Directive 055, and AER Directive 060.

Mandatory Requirements & Experience

• Direct operating experience in the Cynthia, Alberta operating area.
• Extensive experience operating oil, gas, and NGL facilities.
• Proven experience with sour gas (H2S) operations and valid H2S Alive certification.
• Technical proficiency operating and troubleshooting pump jacks and gas sweetening units.
• Must provide a reliable truck equipped with standard tools for field operations.
• Must supply personal cell phone, computer, and mobile office equipment.
• Mandatory response to SCADA call-outs and emergency alarms based on the on-call schedule.
