Job summary

Amico is seeking a Field Technician in Windsor to join our heavy equipment team. You will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair field equipment with a focus on uptime and safety, working with field operations and support teams.

You should have at least 3 years of hands-on repair experience, post‑secondary training in heavy equipment mechanics, and a valid driver’s license. Travel to GTA and SW Ontario worksites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience repairing heavy equipment in field or shop.
  • Post-secondary education in heavy equipment mechanics or related field.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical issues.
  • Experience with cutting, welding, and fabrication.
  • Willing to work flexible shifts and travel to GTA/Southern Ontario worksites.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve field equipment issues independently.
  • Research complex issues through manufacturers, online resources, and technical support.
  • Diagnose onsite repairs to maximize uptime and productivity.
  • Maintain tools and ensure cost-efficient workmanship.
  • Prepare service reports and update field service work orders promptly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently in the field
  • Willing to research difficult issues through manufacturers, online resources, technical support, and software updates
  • Strong work ethic with a “do not give up” attitude toward diagnosing and repairing equipment issues
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Flexible working hours and available for emergency service calls when possible
  • Must follow CVOR legislation including Hours of Service and daily vehicle inspections
  • Ensure work is being performed in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Amico’s health and safety standards/policies
  • Diagnose onsite the repairs required to ensure maximum uptime/productivity for the Amico Fleet as problems are reported by the field operations
  • Own and maintain proper tools required to perform basic repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain quality workmanship and repair the Amico Fleet in a cost-efficient manner
  • Prepare accurate service and repair reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Accurately update field service work orders in a timely fashion with details of the repairs completed
Key Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the repair of heavy equipment in the field and or shop
  • Post Secondary education in a field related to heavy equipment mechanics, truck and coach mechanics, diesel engine mechanics or related field.
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and repair various hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical issues
  • Working knowledge of cutting, welding, and fabrication
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize requests from the field operations
  • Willing to work flexible shifts subject to the schedule of Amico’s field operations
  • Organized team player with the ability to work with a sense of urgency based on the priority of the project
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with the field operations and support team
  • Experience working with various makes of construction equipment and support equipment
  • 421A license will be considered an asset
  • Valid Driver’s license with a clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Travel Requirements: Travel to worksites located in the GTA and Southwestern Ontario area as required.
