Qualifications

  • 1+ years of Marketing or Sales experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in retail within the running and/or outdoor industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and have a passion for the industry with a personal connection to running or the outdoors.
  • Must be ambitious, organized, and have strong time management skills.

This individual is responsible for ideating, planning, executing, and reporting on community events, retail staff education, and growing brand love for Merrell and Saucony.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the ideal Field Marketing Specialist will be an energetic and self-motivated individual with strong communication, organizational, relationship building, and problem-solving skills. This candidate should have a strong passion for the running and outdoor industries. The Field Marketing Specialist will work closely with the Canadian and global brand marketing teams to bring the brand voice to life on the ground and facilitate a two-way conversation with consumers 365 days a year.

Additionally, this individual will partner with key retailers to drive sell-through with tactical execution, training, and in store merchandising and represent the brand during major marketing and product activations. Though this is a remote role, the ideal candidate is located in the Greater Toronto Area.

Primary Duties:

  • Responsible for taking global marketing platform and finding ways to bring it to life at the local level (social, events, in-store, and with retail partners)
  • Responsible for identifying, briefing, and building strong relationships with influencers, ambassadors, and athletes across Canada on behalf of the brand
  • Elevate brand presence and brand love to ensure Merrell and Saucony are top-of-mind
  • Work to improve retail partnership through positive relationships, staff education, and by building programs that engage staff and consumers alike
  • Responsible for planning and executing consumer relevant events that are in line with global brand platform including new launches
  • Communicate with Sales and Marketing teams through monthly reports
  • Help create ideal in-store environment based on global merchandising guidelines in key accounts. Secure best placement and visibility for point-of-sale assets and ensure in-store assets align with global calendar
  • Maintain and track monthly travel and product seeding budgets, submit bi-annual YTD reports
  • Plan and manage an efficient travel schedule, including office time and several overnights throughout territory or as needed Performing duties consistent with the Company’s goals and policies Performing other duties as required/assigned by manager

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of Marketing or Sales experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in retail, especially within the running and/or outdoor industry
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and have a passion for the industry with a personal connection to running or the outdoors
  • Must be ambitious, organized, and have strong time management skills
  • Strong leadership, initiative, and communication skills
  • Must be outgoing and personable to handle daily interactions with peers, accounts, and consumers
  • Ability to manage diverse needs and expectations of the retailers they service
  • Ability and availability to work some nights and weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) due to retail promotions and events is a must
  • Must have a valid driver's license in good standing and access to a vehicle
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal skills along with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to meet strict and demanding deadlines
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, and Social Media

Working Conditions:

Normal office and retail store environments, as well as indoor and outdoor athletic events. Up to 30% travel required across Canada. Must have valid drivers license, access to a vehicle and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
