Job summary

FedEx Logistics in Canada (York Region, Vaughan) is seeking a dispatch-focused professional to manage Linehaul equipment and ensure on-time trailer delivery and pickup. The role requires adherence to schedules, safety practices, and accurate reporting of equipment status.

The successful candidate will enter events in the TMS, verify trailer locations through yard inventories, and collaborate with management on audits and performance reporting. Evening shift availability is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Dispatches transportation equipment in accordance with the Linehaul plan.
• Enters dispatch events into the TMS to ensure on-time delivery and pickup of trailers.
• Verifies equipment location in the dispatch system via yard inventories.
• Verifies load/unload status of trailers by yard checks and reports missing equipment.
• Follows and communicates safety initiatives to ensure a safety-conscious culture.
• Investigates and reports schedule delays, accidents and equipment failures; implements contingency plans for on-time load delivery.
• Reviews DOT roadside violations and communicates findings to management.
• Compiles data and provides regular and ad hoc reports to management for review.
• Assists management with audits by retrieving data/files for review.
• Reviews trailer load condition reports to ensure proper completion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Responsible for the dispatch of transportation equipment in accordance with the Linehaul plan. Adheres to Linehaul schedules and supports efforts to maximize capacity, minimize partial trailer loads and ensure service integrity for assigned areas.

• In accordance with the Linehaul plan, executes the dispatch of transportation equipment.
• Ensures Linehaul dispatch and arrival rules are followed according to defined Company procedures.
• Dispatches cargo shipments to maximize the trailer volume while meeting package delivery obligations.
• Enters dispatch events into an online system (TMS) to ensure on time delivery and pick up of trailers.
• Verifies the location of equipment in the dispatch system by completing yard inventories.
• Verifies the load/unload status of trailers by completing yard checks. Timely reports missing equipment.
• Follows and communicates safety initiatives to ensure a safety-conscious culture.
• Investigates and reports schedule delays, accidents and equipment failures and implements contingency plans which ensure on-time load delivery in the event of an en-route breakdown or accident.
• Reviews and communicates Department of Transportation (DOT) roadside violations to management.
• Compiles data and provides various regular and adhoc reports to management for review and determination.
• Assists management with Business Control Self Assessment (BCSA) audit activity by retrieving data and/or files for review.
• Reviews trailer load condition reports (TLCR’s) to ensure proper completion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

• High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum Experience

• Dispatch experience preferred.
