Job summary

Morskate Manufacturing in Ponoka, Alberta, is expanding its field services installation team. We’re seeking a reliable Field Labourer who thrives on variety, enjoys working on different jobsites, and is comfortable traveling, sometimes staying out of town for a few days.

You’ll read drawings, set up and install steel, operate grinders and power tools, and work safely at heights. Overtime is available, with full-time year-round employment, health and dental benefits after 3 months, and ongoing

Qualifications

• Read and interpret drawings, sketches, procedures and practices.
• Willing to work overtime and occasional weekends.
• Work in all weather conditions, indoor and outdoor.
• Good time management skills.
• Physically fit to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Able to work independently or in a team.
• English reading/writing and comprehension must be clear.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate grinders, power saws and other hand tools.
• Use measuring tools accurately (metric & imperial).
• Work at heights as required.
• Operate mobile equipment (forklift, skid steer).
• Install and erect steel and troubleshoot installation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of company trucks.
• Care for field trucks, tools, equipment and trailers.

Morskate Manufacturing is a family-run structural steel manufacturer located just west of Highway 2 in Ponoka, Alberta. Specializing in structural, agricultural and custom orders, we take pride in the ability to be adaptable and flexible when designing and building orders to meet the customers exact requirements.

We’re expanding our facility by 90,000+ sq. ft and investing in new technology as we continue to build our team and take on new projects. With this growth comes an exciting opportunity for a Field Labourer to join our field services installation team.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys getting out of the shop and working on different projects and job sites.

Travel is required and depending on the location and scope of the project, you may be required to stay out of town in hotel for a few days, or on a rotation, if longer time is required.

If you’re a reliable, self-motivated welder who takes pride in your work, enjoys variety and is comfortable working independently in the field, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

• Operate grinders, power saws and other hand tools
• Accurate use of square, levels, angle finder and other measuring tools related to specific area (in both Metric & Imperial)
• Work at heights as required
• Operate mobile equipment, e.g. forklift, skid steer
• Installation and erection of steel, troubleshooting installation and finding solutions
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of company trucksat all times to ensure a professional and safe work environment
• Take responsibility for the care and proper use of field trucks, tools, equipment, and trailers, including safe storage and transport
