Job summary

Brandt is seeking a Field Heavy Equipment Technician for our Calgary location. This role focuses on the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry equipment and attachments, with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

You will diagnose, repair, and assemble equipment, use John Deere Service Advisor, and document all actions. Strong teamwork and customer service are essential in this hands-on field position.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and propane systems.
• Diagnostic skills for mechanical and electrical systems of battery/engine powered equipment.
• Experience using hand tools, measuring devices and diagnostic tools.
• Experience with industrial equipment including lifting/rigging and installation.
• Ability to document maintenance, inspections and actions clearly on work orders.
• Good time management and customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate working condition, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment.
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, and computer systems.
• Document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time spent.
• Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely to standards.
• Use John Deere Service Advisor to document maintenance and diagnosis.
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment
• Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
• Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
• Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
• Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
• Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required

What We Look For

• Outstanding knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems and propane systems.
• Demonstrated diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and electrical systems of battery and engine powered material handling equipment.
• Experience with the use of hand tools and measuring devices, and electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements.
• Knowledge and experience with industrial equipment that includes lifting/rigging, maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial mechanical service equipment.
• Exposure to aligning equipment, using dial indicators/calipers, micrometers, hoists or jacks is a plus.
• Strong time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, showing an appreciation of customer needs.
• Trade qualification (Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Automotive, Truck/Transport) considered an asset
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
