About The Role
Reporting to the Department Chair, the Field Experience and Practicum Coordinator establishes, maintains and enhances the collaborative partnerships of Mount Royal, the community-based placement providers, students and faculty to support the field and practicum placements of students in the Bachelor of Education program.
This is a full-time limited-term position with the strong possibility of transitioning into a permanent role.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with program stakeholders, community-based field and practicum mentor teachers, institutions, Department Chair, professors and staff to develop and implement strategic local and regional plans for student placements.
- Develop and implement strategic communications with community partners, securing quality and quantity of field and practicum placements.
- Build relationships and manage established contacts to ensure sustained participation with community-based partners.
- Develop, maintain and monitor effective student relationships and communications to ensure student success and progression throughout the program.
- Collaboratively support and manage the development and implementation of all required practicum student forms.
- Completing annual reports (i.e. Risk Management) and full tracking records for student placements throughout the program.
- Collaborate with department and school personnel to address difficulties that may arise during field experience and practicum placements.
- Ability to travel to various schools in Calgary and surrounding areas.
- Work collaboratively with department members to update field experience and practicum handbooks.
Qualifications
- Three or four-year Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
- A Bachelor of Education with experience teaching in the Alberta K-12 educational system is desirable.
- Formal work experience in the post-secondary education system is preferred.
- Ability to conduct in-person site visits at K-12 schools in the Calgary area.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including responding to inquiries promptly with tact and discretion.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external partners.
- Customer service and public relations skills to interact effectively with diverse personalities.
- Familiarity with Mount Royal University departments, staff, and faculty roles is preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and previous database experience
