Job summary

The City of Kamloops is seeking a temporary, full-time Environmental Technician to support landfill and composting operations, monitor groundwater, and respond to environmental incidents in the field. Two positions are available and include a 40-hour work week with a modified schedule.

The successful candidates will have a relevant degree, at least six months of data-related experience, basic MS Office skills, and a valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in environmental science, natural resource science, or related discipline.
• Minimum of six months’ professional experience related to the collection, maintenance, and manipulation of environmental data.
• Proficient in intermediate Word, intermediate Excel, and basic PowerPoint, as demonstrated through testing (70% pass rate required).
• Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5.

Responsibilities

• Monitor groundwater and manage landfill gas systems while ensuring compliance of landfill and composting operations.
• Respond to environmental incidents and support sustainability initiatives in the field.
• Assist in data collection, analysis, and reporting to support environmental programs.
