Job summary

Artemis Gold Inc. through BW Gold seeks an Electrical Engineer to lead detailed design of capital projects at the Blackwater Mine site in British Columbia. You will work under senior engineers to develop design basis, specs, drawings, and support commissioning of electrical infrastructure.

The role is a fixed-term contract ending December 28, 2028, with a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off schedule. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, 2+ years of mining capital projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience with a focus on capital projects in the mining industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership and enforce BWG safety standards.
  • Lead detailed design of future capital projects for site electrical infrastructure and power systems.
  • Conduct and/or oversee electrical/automation FATs and SATs.
  • Provide commissioning support and assist PLC/HMI integration with SCADA systems.
  • Prepare project schedules, budgets, and resource plans for timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Collaborate with contractors to monitor progress and ensure compliance with specs, quality, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BWG safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.

Under the guidance of other experienced engineers, lead the detailed design (design basis, specifications, drawings) of future capital projects for site wide electrical infrastructure and power systems.

Conduct and/or oversee electrical/automation Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.

Provide commissioning support and assist with PLC / HMI development and integration with existing SCADA systems.

Conduct feasibility studies, trade-offs, cost estimates, and risk assessment assessments to evaluate project viability and develop project execution plans.

Assist with the production of engineering and construction work packages.

Prepare project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure timely and cost effective project delivery.

Provide technical oversight and field engineering support during construction, installation, and commissioning activities for capital projects.

Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure compliance with project specifications, quality, and safety standards.

Check third party engineering deliverables for scope alignment and accuracy and provide feedback.

Complete basic load and cable sizing calculations for LV systems.

Under the direct supervision of other professional engineers, ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, regulations, and professional practice guidelines.

  • Provide input to project and construction managers on all aspects of project controls including earned value, costs, and schedule updates.
  • May be required to maintain a clean-shaven appearance (i.e. no facial hair) to ensure the safe and effective use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with assigned duties.
Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field from an accredited university program.

2+ years of experience in engineering with a focus on capital projects in the mining industry. Experience in mine site development, mechanical infrastructure or processing plant design and commissioning is preferred.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office.

Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and ability to interpret and apply relevant industry standards (CSA, ANSI, ISA, IEEE, NFPA, IEC, etc.) for compliant designs.

  • Must have strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and standards applicable in mining projects, including regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
