Job summary

Artemis Gold Inc. seeks a Water Resources Engineer to lead planning, design, and optimization of water management at the Blackwater Mine site in British Columbia. You will develop hydrological models, support permitting, and coordinate with Operations and Environmental teams to ensure safe and compliant mining operations.

The role requires a P.Eng. in Canada and 3–5 years of mining water management experience; proficiency with GoldSim, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, HEC-HMS/HEC-RAS, and related tools is

Qualifications

  • P.Eng. in Canada and eligible for EGBC registration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in water resources, civil, environmental or mining engineering.
  • Master’s degree is an asset and related fields accepted.
  • 3–5 years in mining, industrial, or water management.
  • Experience with GoldSim, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and hydrology tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead surface water and groundwater management for safe mine operations.
  • Plan, design, and operate water infrastructure and balance models.
  • Develop, calibrate, and validate water balance models (GoldSim).
  • Collect and analyze hydrological, hydrogeological, and water data.
  • Prepare designs for channels, ponds, and water treatment systems.
  • Support permitting, regulatory reporting and environmental compliance.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Environment, and Capital Projects.

Reporting to the Superintendent - Water Management, the Water Resources Engineer is responsible for planning, design, construction, operation, monitoring, and optimizing water management systems and infrastructure across the Blackwater Mine site.
Location: Blackwater Mine Site
Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation
Responsibilities
  • Promote safe work practices and comply with BW Gold Health, Safety and Environmental Programs and the BC Mines Act.
  • Lead surface water and groundwater management programs to support safe and efficient mine operations.
  • Lead the planning, design, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of water management infrastructure.
  • Develop, maintain, calibrate, and validate the GoldSim water balance model.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret hydrological, hydrogeological, meteorological, operational, groundwater, and water quality data.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, prepare water balance forecasts, flood risk assessments, and operational planning recommendations.
  • Prepare and review civil and hydrotechnical designs for diversion channels, drainage ditches, culverts, ponds, reservoirs, stormwater conveyance systems, erosion and sediment control measures, spillways, outlet works, and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare and review mechanical designs and equipment selection for pumps, pipelines, valves, flow meters, and water treatment equipment.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Provide engineering support during the construction, field inspections, commissioning, quality assurance, contractor coordination and management, and progress reporting for water infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate hydrometric, groundwater, meteorological, and water quality monitoring programs.
  • Participate in bathymetric surveys, drone surveys, flow measurements, and storage assessments.
  • Conduct inspections in accordance with OMS Manuals.
  • Develop scopes of work, RFQs, procurement documentation, and coordinate consultants.
  • Support permitting, regulatory reporting, and environmental compliance.
  • Maintain engineering records and complete routine technical reports.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Environment, Maintenance, Technical Services, and Capital Projects.
  • May be required to maintain a clean-shaven appearance (i.e. no facial hair) to ensure the safe and effective use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with assigned duties.
Qualifications
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada and eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
  • A bachelor’s degree in Water resources, Civil, Environmental, Mining Engineering, or related discipline.
  • A master’s degree in water resources engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering or related discipline is considered an asset.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in mining, industrial, or water management, including mine water management, water balance modelling, and water treatment systems.
  • Experience in hydrology, hydraulics, hydrogeology, water treatment, and mine water management.
  • Experience with GoldSim, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, HEC-HMS/HEC-RAS, Power BI, Python, Deswik, Muk3D or similar software.
  • Strong analytical, communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency with engineering and modelling software.
  • Familiarity with dam safety principles and Operation, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) requirements.
  • Strong project management, communication, technical writing, presentation, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
