Job summary

SewerVUE Technology Corp. designs and operates multi-sensor inspection floats that combine LiDAR, profiling sonar, and CCTV to measure the condition of large-diameter sewers and tunnels.

A growing share of our work involves shipping the float to a contractor or utility and supporting their crew on site, rather than running the inspection ourselves. We are hiring a Field Deployment Specialist to provide on-site support, assist with inspection reporting between projects, and travel for deployments

Qualifications

• Experience as a sewer CCTV inspection operator (mainline crawlers, manhole work, winch and tether handling).
• Professional and confident with customers; able to guide a crew that does not report to you.
• Good written and verbal communication; steady under time pressure.
• Able to learn new software and operating procedures.
• Valid driver's license and passport; travel to the United States eligible.
• Able to perform field work: outdoor sites, manhole access, lifting up to 25 kg.

Responsibilities

• Support float setup, launch, retrieval, and tow rigging on customer sites; train and advise the customer's crew through their initial deployments.
• Serve as SewerVUE's on-site contact during deployments and communicate clearly with customer project managers and crews.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues in the field; manage spares; provide clear reports to engineering when escalation is needed.
• Check data capture quality on site (video, LiDAR, sonar, distance, metadata) before a line is considered complete.
• Assist with inspection reporting between deployments, including metadata validation, video review, reference profile confirmation, coding, and deliverable preparation.
• Maintain pre-deployment checklists, equipment logs, and float readiness between projects.
• Bring field observations back into our procedures, checklists, and product development.

We are hiring a Field Deployment Specialist to provide that on-site support and to help with inspection reporting between projects.

About the role

The Field Deployment Specialist travels with the float to customer sites, helps the customer's crew set up and operate the system, and works alongside them during the first lines of a project until they are comfortable running it on their own. During a deployment you are SewerVUE's main contact on site: you help plan lines with the customer's project manager, advise on setup and rigging, and keep our office informed of progress.

When equipment problems come up in the field, you are expected to diagnose and, where possible, repair them, and to work with our engineering team by phone or video when software support is needed.

Between deployments, the role is based in our Port Coquitlam office and supports inspection reporting: reviewing video and line metadata, confirming pipe reference profiles, coding observations, and helping prepare the 2D and 3D deliverables our customers receive. You would also help maintain, test, and pack the floats and field equipment between projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as a sewer CCTV inspection operator (mainline crawlers, manhole work, winch and tether handling)
• Practical technical skills: comfortable with hand and power tools, connectors and cabling, and able to follow a wiring diagram
• Comfortable with computers and basic networking (Windows, file transfer, basic PC and router troubleshooting)
• Professional and confident with customers; able to guide a crew that does not report to you
• Good written and verbal communication; steady under time pressure
• Able to learn new software and operating procedures
• Valid driver's licence and passport, and eligible to travel to and work in the United States
• Able to perform field work: outdoor sites, manhole access, lifting up to 25 kg, occasional long days
  

Assets

• PACP/MACP certification
• Confined space entry and traffic control training
• Forklift certification
• Experience with sonar, LiDAR, survey, or other measurement instruments
• Familiarity with point cloud or GIS software
• Experience training or supervising field crews
  

Travel

Travel is a significant part of this position. Trips are typically several days to a few weeks in length, across Canada and the United States and occasionally other parts of the world, and may occur back to back during busy periods. The proportion of time spent travelling will vary with project schedules. Travel expenses and per diem are covered.
