Qualifications

  • 7+ years of construction surveying experience on major tunneling, civil, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience leading survey teams and coordinating survey operations on complex construction projects.
  • Strong experience with tunnel surveying, underground control networks, and survey control management.
  • Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Geoscience, Engineering Technology, or a related field is an asset.
  • Strong ability to interpret civil, geotechnical, structural, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient with total stations, GNSS/GPS systems, survey software, and digital survey data management.
  • Thorough understanding of construction layout, QA/QC processes, and as-built documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and construction teams.
  • Experience with machine control systems, VMT guidance systems, marine surveying, BIM, GIS, or advanced geospatial technologies is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor and develop survey personnel.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet evolving project and site requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead survey operations on a major civil infrastructure project ensuring quality, accuracy, and schedule alignment.
  • Develop and implement survey plans, methods, procedures, and workflows to support project execution.
  • Perform construction layout, monitoring, 3D scanning, control network establishment, tunnel guidance and survey verification using total stations, terrestrial scanners, GNSS/GPS, and related technologies.
  • Manage and process survey data, coordinate systems, as-builts, and deliverables while maintaining QA/QC standards.
  • Collaborate with project, engineering, and construction teams to resolve technical challenges and support project priorities.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop survey personnel while coordinating resources and work plans.
  • Manage survey equipment, software, calibration, and maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and review survey deliverables as required.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through hazard assessments, safe work practices, and compliance with company policies.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to project leadership on survey progress, risks, and opportunities.

As a Survey Manager, you will lead surveying operations for the delivery of the Stanley Park Tunnel Project, a complex water supply tunnel project in the heart of Vancouver. Working in a challenging urban environment with existing utilities, traffic interfaces, and underground construction, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of survey control, construction layout, monitoring, and as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

We are seeking an experienced survey professional with a strong background in tunneling, underground construction, and major civil infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will lead all survey planning, coordination, execution, and QA/QC activities, ensuring accurate, safe, and efficient survey delivery. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and experience managing survey teams on complex construction projects.

Partnering closely with project management, engineering, field operations, and subcontractors, you will provide technical oversight and leadership for all survey activities while supporting the successful delivery of this landmark infrastructure project.

What you will do
