We are looking for a self-driven and detail-oriented Network Engineer to support a dynamic Optical R&D lab environment. This role combines network infrastructure management, desktop support, and lab operations, ensuring a high-performing and reliable environment for engineering and development teams.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining lab network stability, software tools, and physical assets, while collaborating closely with IT teams and R&D engineers to optimize lab performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with IT teams and lab users to ensure optimal performance and availability of the lab network
- Troubleshoot and resolve subnetting, IP addressing, and connectivity issues within the lab environment
- Manage and maintain software licenses and tools used by R&D teams
- Monitor and optimize server resources and lab systems to support engineering workloads
- Oversee lab asset management, including tracking hardware, equipment, and maintaining asset databases
- Ensure compliance with organizational guidelines and best practices for asset management
- Support desktop and end-user needs within the lab environment
- Assist in improving lab utilization, efficiency, and operational workflows
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Hands‑on experience supporting an R&D lab or test environment
- Strong understanding of:
- IP networking, subnetting, and troubleshooting
- Network infrastructure (switches, servers, lab systems)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in optical or telecom environments (e.g., DWDM, transport networks)
- Familiarity with lab/testbed environments and engineering workflows
- Knowledge of asset management systems and inventory tracking tools
