Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Nursing, the Fertility Nurse has primary responsibility for counselling patients regarding treatments and supporting physicians' consultations. Furthermore, the Fertility Nurse addresses requests and concerns from patients and meets with physicians to review daily results and give treatment orders for patients.

This role has no direct reports but provides assistance to the HFC’s multidisciplinary team, including HFC’s diverse team of professionals and other roles.

This role is a 12-month contract position.

Job Duties (including, but not limited to):

• Working with physicians, clinical administrators, receptionists, patient relations coordinators, and peers on a daily basis as required
• Supporting physicians' consultations from new patients to those undergoing IVF treatment or participating in the Natural Conception Program
• Answering requests and concerns from patients via email, telephone, and in person
• Contacting patients with results and next steps when facing negative outcomes
• Ensuring next steps are in place for patients when no further plans are outlined in the chart
• Discussing results with patients and dispensing medications
• Setting up for day 1 calls, including stimulation sheets and requisitions as required
• Meeting with physicians to review results and receive orders for next steps as required

Skills & Qualifications:

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Professional Liability Insurance
• 1-2 years of experience in a nursing environment
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, preferably ACCURO
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Excellent communication skills, skilled in patient counselling and teaching
• Superior patient service skills, confidentiality, and a professional demeanor
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently following procedures
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks seamlessly
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork ability
• Strong organization and documentation skills
