Job description

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Nursing, the Fertility Nurse has primary responsibility to counselling patients regarding treatments and supporting physician’s consultations. Furthermore, the Fertility Nurse addresses requests and concerns from patients and meet with physicians to review daily results and give treatment order for patients.

This role has no direct reports, but provides assistance to the HFC’s multidisciplinary team, including HFC’s diverse team of professionals and other roles.

This role is a 12 month contract role.

Job Duties (including, but not limited to)

  • Working with Physicians, Clinical Administrators, Receptionists and Patient Relations Coordinators and peers on a daily basis as required
  • Supporting Physician's consultations from new patients to patients undergoing IVF treatment, or going through our Natural Conception Program
  • Answering requests and concerns from patient via email, telephone, and in person
  • Contacting patients with results and next steps when facing negative outcomes
  • Ensuring next steps are in place for patients when no more plans are outlined in chart
  • Discuss results with patients and dispense medications
  • Set up for day 1 calls – including stimulation sheets and requisitions as required
  • Meeting with MD to review results and receive orders for next steps as required

Skills & Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Professional Liability Insurances
  • 1-2 years in a nursing environment
  • Experience in the use of an Electronic Medical record (EMR) system, preferably ACCURO
  • Previous background with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Great communicator that is skilled in patient counselling/teaching
  • Superior patient service skills, confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Is self-motivated with an ability to work independently while following procedures
  • Is able to prioritize and seamlessly manage multiple tasks
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Has highly effective organization and documentation skills

  • General office conditions
  • Busy clinic environment
  • Clinic hours: 7 Am – 3 PM (Sunday – Saturday)
