About The Position

The ADM Midland flour mill is seeking candidates for the position of Fawema Operator. Duties of a Fawema Operator are to operate and maintain the Fawema Packaging machines to required standards and provide support for preventive and failure-based maintenance as required by the packaging department. This is an hourly unionized position which involves shift work, weekend work and call outs after hours.

Duties And Responsibilities

Primary responsibility of the Fawema Operator is the operation, setup, adjustment, and changeover of the Fawema Packing lines including, but not limited to:

1. Working within established safety standards and practices.
2. Troubleshooting equipment issues to maintain uptime.
3. Demonstrating a strong team member attitude while being able to work independently with minimal supervision.
4. Recommending changes, modifications or upgrades of equipment to improve machine reliability and performance.
5. Reading equipment drawings and documentation.
6. Documenting work, modifications to equipment, etc.
7. Communicating well both in writing and verbally.
8. Completing records for food safety and traceability purposes.

Required Skills And Qualifications

1. The candidate must have a high degree of mechanical competence.
2. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of all applicable OHSA standards, GMP’s, HACCP and other applicable food and feed safety standards.
3. The candidate must have regular, prompt attendance.
4. Creativity in problem solving is required.
5. The candidate must be able to work under time constraints and must be adaptable, dependable and a self-starter.
6. The candidate must be willing to work shift work or holidays as required and must be able and willing to work overtime.
7. The candidate must be able to complete Company sponsored training as required.
8. General knowledge of software systems such as Microsoft Office applications is an asset.

Education Or Work Experience

1. At least two (2) years of experience operating industrial equipment.

Additional Information

1. The candidate must be able to work in a plant environment in a variety of environmental conditions including inside and outside, hot and cold temperatures and dusty environments.
2. Have the ability to climb stairs, lift 55 pounds, sit and stand for long periods, be able to work in confined spaces, work with heights, bending and kneeling.
3. Work in accordance with local/provincial legislation.
4. Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirements.
5. All candidates must have authorization and the ability to maintain authorization to legally work in Canada.
6. Relocation support is not available for this position.
