About the Position
The ADM Midland flour mill is seeking candidates for the position of Fawema Operator. Duties of a Fawema Operator include operating and maintaining the Fawema Packaging machines to required standards and providing support for preventive and failure-based maintenance as required by the packaging department. This is an hourly unionized position which involves shift work, weekend work, and call-outs after hours.


Duties and Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities of the Fawema Operator include the operation, setup, adjustment, and changeover of the Fawema Packing lines including, but not limited to:

  • Working within established safety standards and practices.
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues to maintain uptime.
  • Demonstrating a strong team member attitude while being able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Recommending changes, modifications, or upgrades of equipment to improve machine reliability and performance.
  • Reading equipment drawings and documentation.
  • Documenting work, modifications to equipment, etc.
  • Communicating well both in writing and verbally.
  • Completing records for food safety and traceability purposes.
  • Strong knowledge of all applicable OHSA standards, GMP’s, HACCP, and other applicable food and feed safety standards.
  • Regular, prompt attendance.
  • Creativity in problem-solving is required.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and must be adaptable, dependable, and a self-starter.
  • Willingness to work shift work or holidays as required and must be able and willing to work overtime.
  • Ability to complete Company sponsored training as required.
  • General knowledge of software systems such as Microsoft Office applications is an asset.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High degree of mechanical competence.
  • Strong knowledge of all applicable OHSA standards, GMP’s, HACCP, and other applicable food and feed safety standards.
  • Regular, prompt attendance.
  • Creativity in problem-solving is required.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and must be adaptable, dependable, and a self-starter.
  • Willingness to work shift work or holidays as required and must be able and willing to work overtime.

Education or Work Experience

  • At least two (2) years of experience operating industrial equipment.

Additional Information

  • Ability to work in a plant environment in a variety of environmental conditions including inside and outside, hot and cold temperatures, and dusty environments.
  • Ability to climb stairs, lift 55 pounds, sit and stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, work with heights, bending, and kneeling.
  • Work in accordance with local/provincial legislation.
  • Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirements.
  • All candidates must have authorization and the ability to maintain authorization to legally work in Canada.
  • Relocation support is not available for this position.
