Elk Island Catholic Separate School Division is accepting applications for a temporary full-time Family Wellness Worker position shared between Archbishop Jordan Catholic High School (Sherwood Park) and St. André Bessette Catholic High School (Fort Saskatchewan).

The Family Wellness Worker will support students, families and staff within a Collaborative Response Model, assist in crisis response, and contribute to staff wellness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or psychology or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of emotional/behavioural difficulties and mental health of children/adolescents required.
  • Knowledge of community agencies, referral procedures, and collaboration with diverse student needs is essential.

Job description

Elk Island Catholic Separate School Division is accepting applications for a temporary full-time Family Wellness Worker position shared between Archbishop Jordan Catholic High School (Sherwood Park) and St. André Bessette Catholic High School (Fort Saskatchewan).

Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Inclusive Learning Services, the Family Wellness Worker will work within a Collaborative Response Model to directly support students, families, and staff to assess needs, set goals, and plan appropriate support and intervention strategies. The Family Wellness Worker will also support crisis response and staff wellness, as needed. The successful candidate will also strive to further our school division's mission of “Seeing Christ in Everyone” through intentional integration of our Catholic faith in the scope of the Family Wellness Worker role, as well as active participation and engagement in faith celebrations and personal faith formation.

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Psychology, diploma or equivalent, specializing in a social services field. Specific knowledge in emotional / behavioural difficulties and mental health of children and adolescents is required. Additionally, knowledge of community agencies and their respective mandates and referral procedures is needed. Strong collaboration skills and experience working with students with a variety of disabilities, as well as English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners is desirable. As part of a collaborative, responsive team, flexibility within the role and hours are required.

The successful candidate will join an established community of practice with other Family Wellness Workers that fosters collaborative practice and support as well as professional learning, consultation and supervision. Additionally, by virtue of the submission of an application, the applicant agrees that the Director or designate can contact previous employers for the purpose of conducting confidential reference checks whether or not the applicant has listed a reference for that employer.

Salary Range: $71,000 to $86,000
