Job description

Hours: Must provide availability for a minimum of 5 shifts per calendar month. Shifts include days (7:00am-3:00pm or 8:00am-4:00pm), afternoons (3:00pm-11:00pm or 4:00pm-12:00am), and nights (11:00pm-7:00am or 12:00am-8:00am). Availability must include at least 2 overnight shifts and 2 weekend shifts. Opportunities to pick up hours across Family Centre programs are available. Some flexibility in hours may be required.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Provide support to service users including assessment, intake, housing-based case management, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counselling, education, advocacy, and facilitating long-term housing success.
  • Perform residential tasks such as laundry, cleaning, unit turnovers, inventory, inspections, and other duties for safe and efficient program operation.
  • Maintain safety and security through hourly facility checks, answering phones, and weekly inspections.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to barriers faced by service users.
  • Respect and protect confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Follow health and safety rules in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

What You'll Bring To Our Team

  • Post-secondary education in Social Services or a related field.
  • Experience in a residential setting is preferred.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in community outreach or emergency shelter, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of issues impacting families such as homelessness, violence, immigration, poverty, mental illness, and substance use.
  • Experience with person-centered, trauma-informed, harm reduction, and housing first frameworks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience with HIFIS & EMHware is an asset.
  • CPR certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Valid G license is preferred.
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset.
