How You Will Make An Impact

Our Transition Beds Program provides brief-stay residential care in a community setting to marginalized individuals being discharged from hospital who require ongoing medical care and personal support services to support recovery and re-integration into the community.

We are seeking Personal Support Worker professionals interested in working in a fast-paced setting responding to the needs of people impacted by poverty, homelessness, mental health issues, and substance use. Successful candidates will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that facilitates improved health status and timely, effective discharge to the community for service users.

Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff, and others, as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd.

What You'll Bring To Our Team

  • A PSW certificate, in good standing from an approved and recognized institution
  • Experience working with individuals with complex health and social needs
  • Ability to work within a Harm Reduction framework
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and assessment skills
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
  • Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employee's responsibility under current legislation.
