Job summary

Jobtailor in Abbotsford, BC seeks a dedicated Family Support Specialist to support children, youth and families across early intervention, school-age OT/PT, and CYSN Family Support programs.

You will participate in family interviews, conduct intake visits, assess needs, and advocate for access to community resources. The role emphasizes collaborative teamwork and culturally responsive service navigation within a multidisciplinary context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience working with children and families in a pediatric, child development, social services, or related setting.
• Experience with assessment, advocacy, service navigation, and connecting families with community resources.
• Working knowledge of government, health, social service, and community programs supporting children and families.
• Ability to foster effective interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
• Strong time-management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong understanding of child development and the impact of diverse abilities on development and family functioning.
• Demonstrated knowledge of family-centred practice and relationship-based interventions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to organize and facilitate workshops, meetings, groups, and educational activities.
• Ability to work effectively with families and communities from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and lived-experience backgrounds.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
• A valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s licence and reliable access to a vehicle for work-related travel are required.
