Job summary

Health Match BC is seeking a Family Physician to join the Port Alice Health Centre on Vancouver Island. The practice serves a small community with shared patient panels, urgent care, and outreach to the Kyuquot indigenous community.

Clinic hours are Monday–Thursday, 09:00–16:30, with Friday negotiable for outreach. Position includes Rural Subsidiary Agreement incentives, relocation funding, and a recruitment bonus.

Role and Facility Information

The Port Alice Health Centre has an opening for a Family Physician to join a team of dedicated health care professionals providing primary and urgent care services to a community of 1,200 residents. Port Alice Health Centre services includes urgent care, laboratory, social work, mental health, public health and home nursing care. This is a collegial, collaborative physician practice, with a shared patient panel. Port Alice physicians also provide outreach service to the remote indigenous community of Kyuquot.

In addition to primary care services, Port Alice Health Center simultaneously operates an Urgent Care service in conjunction with remote certified nurses. Casual rural emergency department shifts are also available (optional) in the neighboring communities of Port Hardy, Port McNeill and Cormorant Island.

Benefits and Incentives

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

• Retention Premium 23.38%
• Retention Flat Fee $36,232
• Relocation Funding Available $up to a maximum of $15,000 (Depending on location moving from)
• Recruitment Incentive $up to a maximum of $20,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
• Other Benefits/Incentives CME: $1,320/annum 2 years or less, $3,520/annum year 3-4 and $5,720/annum after 4 years in the community
