Island Health’s Alderlea Medical Clinic in Duncan, BC, is seeking a full-time family physician to join a small group of seven associates who share staff and overhead. You will provide inpatient MRP care and participate in weekend rounds, with additional duties in long-term-care facilities.

The role supports remote care and home-based visits, with overhead contributions and RSA remuneration options such as recruitment incentives, relocation assistance, fee premium, CME, and annual allowances.

Qualifications

Job description

Established private office based broad spectrum family practice in the Alderlea Medical Clinic as member of a small group of 7 associate family physicians (4 full-time, 3 part-time) who share staff, overhead costs and who work cooperatively, cross-covering for each other in times of short absences/unavailability.

Provision of inpatient acute care hospital MRP service for the practice patients is desired, and participation in group call schedule for weekend acute care hospital inpatient rounds is expected. Provision of MRP service for practice patients who are admitted to selected local long-term-care facilities in Duncan is also a requirement.

The formula for calculating each physician's monthly overhead is currently under review by the associates to find the most equitable cost sharing model. Historically the monthly overhead contributions have been based primarily on the allotted days of office/exam room space, but we expect that going forward we will be factoring in use of office resources for remote work/virtual care performed at home/outside the office. Projected overhead for this full time position is estimated to be $6,000 per month. From time to time there may be a need to increase monthly overhead payments to cover rising costs.

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: (subject to change)

• Recruitment Incentive: $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
• Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
• Fee Premium: 4.20%
• Annual Flat Fee: $6,508.80
• Rural CME: starting at $2,200/annum in year 3 & 4 to a maximum of $4,400.00/annum after 4 years.
