Job summary

A regional health authority is seeking a Family Physician for a 0.5 FTE position in Pukatawagan. Responsibilities include providing independent care in a fly-in program area, collaborating with nursing staff, and demonstrating sensitivity to Indigenous cultures. Qualifications

  • Must hold licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association required.
  • Must have current Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Must obtain Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) within 6 months of hire.
  • Must obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
  • Must obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire.
  • Indigenous cultural awareness course must be completed within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent care in an OHS Fly-In program area.
  • Work alongside nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrate appreciation of Indigenous worldviews.
  • Provide anti-racist, trauma-informed care.
  • Ensure effective time management and prioritize tasks.

Family Physician 0.5 FTE – Pukatawagon First Nation

Hourly Range: $237.32

On-call stipend, Meal per Diem and Additional Hours

Site Description:

Experienced Family Physician required OHS Fly-In program area. Willing to work independently with nursing staff.

Pukatawagan (Mathias Colomb) : 820air kilometers northwest of Winnipeg.

Population: Over 2235

Physiciansdeploy fromWinnipeg to community through chartered aircrafts, Monday morning returning Thursday evening.

In-province travel and accommodations covered by organization.

Out of province travel paid with physicians holding 0.25 FTE (1 week monthly).

Out of province travel paid for locum providers with a commitment of 2 consecutive weeks (12 days).

Qualifications:

  • Must hold licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, or eligible for licensure.
  • Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association ( CMPA )

Certifications:

  • Must have current Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) (within 6 months of hire)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 6 months of hire)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)(within 6 months of hire)
  • Indigenous cultural awareness course (within 6 months of hire)
  • Manitoba Opioid Antagonist Therapy (OAT) course or equivalent is encouraged

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong health assessment and clinical skills are required
  • Excellent leadership, critical thinking and collaborative interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, working as a member of a health care team alongside extended practice nurses, paramedics and other allied professionals
  • Must demonstrate an appreciation of Indigenous worldviews, cultures and be sensitive in providing anti-racist, trauma- informed care.
  • Must be able to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible.
  • Must possess a dependable, consistent and reliable work record, including attendance at work.

Compensation:
Compensation is remunerated as per Doctors Manitoba
