Job summary

Brock Community Health Centre in North Durham is seeking a Family Physician to join our community‑focused, rural practice. This salaried role offers stable income with no overhead, no OHIP billing, and paid vacation and benefits.

You will work within an interdisciplinary team including nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, dietitian and outreach staff to deliver comprehensive primary care and preventive services in a supportive, accessible setting. NR RRI incentive applies.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Degree in Family Medicine and be licensed to practise in Ontario.
  • CFPC certification is preferred.
  • Experience in rural or vulnerable populations is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary health care consistent with CPSO standards.
  • Coordinate care, referrals, and investigations with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide patient education, health promotion and preventive care.
  • Maintain confidential medical records and documentation.
  • Share on-call coverage and provide same-day/urgent care services.

Located in beautiful North Durham, Brock CHC provides quality primary health care and wellness programs that support people across rural Brock Township and surrounding areas, helping to build a healthier, more connected community. Brock CHC is seeking a Family Physician who shares our passion for community-focused health, and is motivated to make a lasting difference in a rural setting where their work will truly matter. In addition to a favourable work-life balance, physicians work as members of an interdisciplinary team that includes nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, physiotherapist, dietitian, diabetes educators, outreach workers and administrative staff.


Scope of Work:


  • Provide comprehensive primary health care emphasizing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, health education and other medical functions as required by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario standards of practice

  • Provide appropriate follow-up, referrals, investigations and coordination of care as required

  • Provide patient education, health promotion and preventative care as appropriate

  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential medical documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards

  • Strive to achieve provincial performance targets set by Ontario Health

  • Promote a team-based, integrated approach to primary care that considers the patient’s physical, mental, social and environmental health needs

  • Share responsibility for the on-call coverage (telephone only) offered by Brock CHC

  • Provide same-day services for clients with acute or urgent care needs

  • Provide coverage for other primary care practitioners

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical secretaries, allied health professionals and other members of the interdisciplinary CHC team


Degree in Family Medicine from a recognized university and currently licensed to practice in the province of Ontario by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario



  • Certification in Family Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) preferred

  • Current CMPA or equivalent professional liability coverage

  • Alignment with the Centre’s values – equity, confidentiality, compassion, collaboration, responsiveness, education and respect

  • Experience as a Family Physician working with all ages in a community health setting

  • Experience working in rural, vulnerable or medically complex populations (preferred)

  • Demonstrated leadership in promoting a shared responsibility for professional practice and development

  • Proficiency with EMR systems

  • Commitment to patient-centred, equitable and accessible health care

  • Strong time management and organizational skills


Excellent benefits including paid vacation, paid sick time and HOOPP. Brock CHC physicians are eligible for the Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (NRRRI), which provides a taxable recruitment incentive grant starting at approximately $84,851 over four years.
