Job summary

Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre in Ottawa, ON, is seeking two Family Physicians to join our integrated healthcare team. Regular part-time positions: 17.5 hours/week and 21 hours/week, with a pay scale of CAD 154.49–181.78 per hour.

You will provide comprehensive primary care, collaborate with nurses and social services, perform health assessments, prescribe meds, and coordinate referrals. CPSO licensure and CMPA coverage are required; bilingual English/French is an asset.

Qualifications

  • MD degree and CPSO licensure in good standing.
  • CCFP certification or eligibility.
  • CMPA coverage.
  • Minimum of two years of family medicine experience.
  • Experience with priority populations (newcomers, refugees, 2SLGBTQ+).
  • Bilingual English/French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary medical care per CPSO standards.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions across the lifespan.
  • Collaborate with NPs, RNs, allied health and social services staff.
  • Conduct health assessments, develop care plans, provide clinical services.
  • Order/interpret diagnostics, prescribe medications, coordinate referrals.
  • Educate clients on disease prevention and health promotion.
  • Maintain EMR documentation per standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, quality improvement and CPD.
  • Support clients affected by social determinants of health.

Job Summary
Works with a multi-disciplinary health team to provide primary care services to individuals and families residing in the PQCHC area using a medical care model which emphasizes a holistic approach of prevention, health maintenance, and education.

Job Specific Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary medical care consistent with the standards of practice of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions across the lifespan.
  • Collaborate with nurse practitioners, registered nurses, allied health professionals, and social services staff to deliver team-based primary care.
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments, develop and review care plans, and provide direct clinical services.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic investigations, prescribe medications, and coordinate referrals to specialists and community resources.
  • Educate clients on disease prevention, health promotion, and chronic disease management.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, quality improvement, and continuing professional development activities.
  • Support clients experiencing health inequities linked to the social determinants of health, such as income, housing, and employment.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and current licensure in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
  • CCFP certification or eligibility with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
  • Current CMPA coverage.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing family medicine, ideally in a primary care or community health setting.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in working with one or more of PQCHC's priority populations: newcomers and refugees, older adults, 2SLGBTQ+ and gender-diverse clients, and people experiencing health inequities linked to the social determinants of health, such as income, housing, and employment.
  • Experience in a community setting desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care.
  • Technology proficiency – PS Suite EMR, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexible hours, including some evenings.
  • Vehicle and license requirements – Class G.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Linguistic profile: Bilingual English/French is an asset.
