Job description

We are seeking dedicated and passionate Family Physicians to join our team at Central Interior Native Health Society (CINHS) as we expand our hours of operation.

CINHS is a community health centre that provides primary health care and specialist/specialty services alongside Indigenous approaches to health and wellness. Our team of health care professionals, Indigenous Knowledge Holders, peers, and people with lived and living experience help to promote the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual harmony of the clients we serve.

We proudly provide culturally, trauma, and violence responsive health and wellness services to Indigenous Peoples and non-Indigenous people on the unceded and ancestral territory of Lheidli T’enneh. We offer a Team-based care approach to the services we provide, with each client being a valued member of our team.

This is an exciting opportunity for physicians interested in working within a collaborative, Team-based care clinic to deliver high-quality primary care services.

As a Family Physician at our community health centre, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering direct clinical care and telephone consults as/when needed
  • Providing full-scope Family Medicine, including the treatment of a wide range of acute and chronic conditions
  • The opportunity to gain experience/practice in the areas of prenatal & paediatric care, substance use management, HIV and Hepatitis C and Indigenous health & wellness
  • Providing inpatient care according to a weekly rotation that does not exceed 1:4
  • Long term care coverage is required
  • On call is required after initial onboarding period

You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team, which includes: Family Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, Social Workers, Indigenous Wellness Workers, Mental Health & Substance Use Clinicians, an Elder and Knowledge Holders and Outreach workers. We also have Outreach Drivers that provide transportation assistance to clients.

Other Unique Features Of Our Clinic Include

  • Natsoolyis’, our on-site cultural centre, which falls within the scope of our cultural revitalisation mission and was created to support Indigenous individuals, families and communities in the process of examining the practices that produce their ancestral way of being and healing. Natsoolyis’ provides an assortment of cultural teachings, and counselling programs such as land-based wellness, grief and loss workshops, foraging and harvesting, medicine gathering, cultural drumming circle, men’s and women’s healing circles and cultural teachings/crafts
  • HASP (High Acuity Support Program). This is a medication adherence, psycho-social support, and case management program for community members living with HIV. HASP also provides support for those living with the Hepatitis C virus who would like treatment and need support navigating the process, and those living at risk with complex medical and psycho-social needs. Advocacy, education, testing as well as a 7 day per week harm reduction program all operate out of HASP

Our expanded hours of operation will be 5 days a week from 8.30am-8.30pm. Once weekend coverage is phased in, we will operate from 10am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Hours Of Work

We are looking for the equivalent of 3.9 FTEs, with dedicated FTE for inpatient rounding. CINHS values flexibility and work/life balance for team members and will accommodate a 0.2 FTE and upwards to fill these positions.
