Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking an Open Pit Mine Engineering Co-op Student for Fall 2025. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the mining industry, supporting various engineering tasks and initiatives while promoting safety and efficiency. Interns will receive accommodations and meals while working a 14-day on/14-day off schedule at the mine site.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Degree or Diploma program focused on Mine Engineering or related discipline.
  • Must be enrolled in a formal Co-op program.
  • Previous mining experience is advantageous.

  • Conduct open pit surveying and perform DDH surveys for exploration.
  • Engage in special projects as requested by the engineering coordinator.

As an Intern reporting to the Engineering Coordinator, you'll be integrated into the Engineering department. Your role will involve ensuring the achievement of set goals and objectives while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental values.

  • Support the engineering team with the daily data entry duties
  • Provide the required support in the field and in the office to the different engineering groups depending on the needs (Ventilation, Survey, Drill & Blast, Mine Design)
  • Conduct open pit surveying, including grade shots, stakeouts for production and pre-shear blasts, and WRSF markups.
  • Perform DDH surveys for exploration geology and utilize drone surveys.
  • Execute various analyses, projects, and studies as requested by the engineering coordinator or delegate.
  • Engage in special projects.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Currently enrolled in a Degree or Diploma program focused on Mine Engineering, Mine Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Must be enrolled in a formal Co-op program.
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Ontario Common Core or Quebec FMTM modules are an asset;
  • Previous mining experience is advantageous.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and build rapport within teams.
YOUR WORK SCHEDULE
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will cover other travel expenses according to your residence in Canada.
