Job summary

Durham College is seeking a Faculty Finance and Administration Manager for the Faculty of Social and Community Services. Reporting to the Executive Dean, you will oversee strategic financial management, budgets, and operational leadership to ensure program success and accountability across departments.

You will coordinate staff, manage complex budgets, develop SOPs, and build partnerships with community and funding agencies.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a 4-year degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated leadership and staff supervision experience.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in students, staff and programming.
  • Project management experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to prepare reports and present.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • High-level organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration platforms; experience with ERP and PM tools.
  • Experience with student information systems (e.g., Banner) is an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Faculty Finance and Administration Manager plays a critical role inthe overall administration and leadership of the Faculty of Social andCommunity Services. This position provides strategic, financial, andoperational oversight to ensure the effective delivery of Faculty initiatives,special projects, academic programming, and day-to-day operations. Reporting tothe Executive Dean, the incumbent acts as the key liaison between Facultyleadership, internal college services, community partners, and governmentagencies. The role requires advanced financial acumen, project managementexpertise, and strong leadership skills to coordinate staff, manage budgets,and ensure accountability in all aspects of Faculty administration.

Financial Management and Budget Oversight:
  • Lead operating and capital budget cycles, monitor variances, and ensure alignment with priorities.
  • Prepare financial analyses, costing models, and reports for leadership.
  • Oversee procurement processes, compliance with policies, and credit card reconciliations.
Project and Special Initiatives Management:
  • Provide leadership and coordination for faculty-wide and external projects.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement Faculty-wide and external projects.
  • Manage timelines, deliverables, logistics, and quality assurance.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community and funding agencies.
  • Support proposal writing, funding applications, and revenue generation.
  • Analyze project data and create comprehensive reports.
Operational Leadership and Office Management:
  • Supervise and support administrative and student staff.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, records management, and risk/compliance systems.
  • Provide operational support for scheduling, events, accreditation, and professional development.
  • Lead the identification of Faculty needs including specialized space, equipment, classroom/office renovations, classroom/lab supplies, etc. and oversee procurement and implementation
  • Contribute to strategic planning and identify efficiencies.
Stakeholder and Partnership Engagement
  • Represent the Faculty on committees and working groups.
  • Strengthen relationships with internal departments and external partners.
  • Coordinate marketing, recruitment and outreach activities including annual asset review.
  • Coordinate promotional activities and events to enhance program visibility.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a 4-year degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
  • A minimum of 5-years experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis
  • Demonstrated leadership and staff supervision experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in all matters related to students, staffing and programming.
  • Project management expertise is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary education considered an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports, deliver presentations, and build effective relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts, and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • High-level organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and collaborative platforms (Teams, OneDrive).
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems, and project management software
  • Experience with student information systems considered an asset. (e.g., Banner, or equivalent)
